Shinning the light of hope 7,000 miles away.
Armed with talent, their own equipment and a serious will to make an impact, Mark Preston and Phil Foster set out to Naivasha, Kenya, to create a film series documenting the plight of young girls in Kenya and the hope that resides at a local school — Light of Hope.
The Light of Hope Home & School is a school that provides refuge, restoration and redirection to the lost and homeless girls who have become victims of the Naivashan society. The goal of the trip? Produce a series of videos showing and telling all aspects of the Light of Hope story — from the depth of despair and poverty to the hope of overcoming it all.
“It’s like we’re doing what Oprah did — except we’re not Oprah,” said Phil when describing their undertaking. “The focus is to give these girls some basics — like a safe place that has four walls and a roof. That change alone has the potential to dramatically change their lives.“
Now, not to knock Queen O (she does have a few more resources at her disposal), but Mark and Phil have the inspiration and the insight to do some pretty big things there too.
