Mary Broedell
Old-school typesetter...turned graphic designer…turned school teacher…turned animation instructor…turned natural health coach…yeah, we had a hard time following it all too.
Mary Broedell, senior interactive art director/developer, has been a longtime student of the arts. Majoring in graphic design and minoring in animation at the College for Creative Studies (CCS), Mary honed her creative skills throughout the years through a variety of channels — a junior high and high school animation visiting and resident artist, a CCS animation instructor, a DVD developer and a dot-com freelancer.
As far as honing her health, an art in itself, Mary became interested 15 years ago. “I struggled with health problems all my life,” says Mary. “It wasn’t until I searched out and began using natural healing methods that I started to find health.” Mary started a natural health blog in 2006 to share recipes, stories, articles and tips — not just for humans but for companion pets as well.
Seven years ago, Mary’s Pug/Chihuahua mix developed a serious case of allergies. She started her on a real food diet, and the allergies started to diminish. Through working with her dog, Mary started taking natural health classes, and after earning a bachelor of science in Natural Health (yes, she eventually earned a degree and made it official), she was able to successfully provide a diet for her pup and eliminate the allergies. Seven years and counting, Mary cooks for her dogs almost every night.
A true connoisseur of natural health, Mary is finishing up her national certification for natural health coaching so she can help others help themselves by coaching people (and their pets) lead healthier lives. After that? Workshops? Cookbooks? “Who knows what’s in store for me. If you had asked me 20 years ago if I thought I’d be a natural health coach, I would’ve thought you were crazy.”
